Apem Oreo, Si Hitam Manis Yang Menggoda

Fusion! When an Indonesian traditional snack recipe meets one of the most famous American cookies! Please welcome these sweet-savory, moist and fluffy Apem Oreo (Steam-baked Oreo Rice Flour Bun).

I didn't really plan to make them but since my toddler nephew grabbed the "wrong" oreos and didn't like the cream flavor, so I had to do something with the "unwanted" oreos.

I've shared apem recipe before and this one is actually just slightly different from that one because I added crushed coconut flavored oreos and a little bit of baking powder in the batter (the result was unexpectedly yummier).

  • Mix all dry ingredients except baking powder, set aside.
  • Mix coconut milk and water, pour into dry ingredients, stir until well blended. Let rest covered with cling wrap for 45 minutes until rising.
  • Stir a little bit and add baking powder, stir again until well blended.
  • Pour into greased molds/muffin tins. Steam over medium heat for 20 minutes. Best served warm with a cup of coffee.

  1. Saya mau tanya, bagaimana supaya hasilnya bisa mulus seperti di gambar, bagian kelopak mawarnya gak berlubang-lubang? Beberapa kali mencoba membuatnya, selalu berlubang..

    Terima kasih
